You know how you love tarot?
And goddesses?
And also (maybe secretly, maybe loud and proud) celebrities?
Well, guess what?
There’s a Celebrity Goddess Tarot!
Ho yes. And here it is:
It’s a majors-only deck, and our esteemed goddesses of the major arcana are:
0 the fool: Britney Spears
i the magician: Yoko Ono
ii the high priestess: RuPaul
iii the empress: Courtney Love
iv the emperor: Beyoncé
v hierophant: Madonna
vi lovers: Kim Kardashian, Kanye, and North West
vii the chariot: Tonya Harding
viii strength: Nicki Minaj
ix the hermit: Patti Smith
x wheel of fortune: Kathleen Hanna
xi justice: Olivia Benson
xii the hanged woman: Diana Ross
xiii death: Miley Cyrus
xiv temperance: Portia de Rossi
xv the devil: Rihanna
xvi the tower: Amy Winehouse
xvii the star: Frida Khalo
xviii the moon: Malala Yousafzai
xix the sun: Taylor Swift
xx judgement: Katharine Hepburn
xxi the world: Björk
Rhianna as the Devil? Kathleen Hanna as the Wheel of Fortune? Miley Cyrus as Death??? YES, my friend.
It’s the creation of artist Faye Orlove, whose irreverent, tongue-in-cheek, may I say post-ironic designs include drawing the Simpsons, painting the Khaleesi, and making Catholic-style prayer candles featuring the faces of the Kardashians and Caitlin Jenner:
Naturally I had a few questions for Faye about her awesome deck!
Hi Faye! Could you tell us a little about yourself?
Haha! My name is Faye Orlove. I live in Los Angeles and work as an animator for Animation Domination Hi-Def. I saw the Miley Cyrus Bangerz tour three times in one month. My favorite Kardashian is Suzie, the monkey Khloe and Kourtney bought for Kris when she was feeling lonely. I’m a Virgo (with a Scorpio moon) and the Britney Spears I most identify with is 2007 post K-Fed Britney as she’s shaving her head. Follow me @fayeorlove if you feel like it!
So! Why did you create the deck?
I was bored! And wanted an excuse to draw celebs. I’m always looking for excuses to draw celebs. I never say “celebs” either, like I recognize that it sounds lame but I can’t stop.
Which was the first card you created?
Britney Spears as the Fool. That one came naturally but not in a cold hearted way! It just fit. And then Rihanna as the Devil. Which is also supposed to be a compliment.
Was it hard to choose which celebs to put with which cards, or did it seem really obvious?
Some were trickier than others. A lot of them were easy like Patti Smith as the Hermit, Beyonce as the Emperor, Rupaul as the High Priestess. Some trickier ones were the Chariot, Judgment, the Tower, Lovers. Lovers was hard because I was hesitant to include any men, but I really wanted to chose a couple that had shared values and mutual respect for each other. The card also has a sort of “royalty” aspect so obvi Kimye was the only logical choice. And including North West as the angel blessing them was just an added bonus.
Which is your favourite card/celeb, and why?
My favorite is Miley as Death. I love the drawing, for one thing, and I also love how perfect Miley is as the Death representation. The card is all about transformation and invincibility. Death is strong but also pure, and that’s how I think of Miley. The iconic goddess of “change.”
How do you imagine folks using your deck?
My friend Robin has been using it in a really awesome way! She does her readings with a full 78 deck, and then picks one card from my deck to represent kind of an “over-arching theme.” It’s cool!
Any plans to make a full deck?

I’m a 30-something writer, artist, tarot reader, and perpetual explorer of the space between thought, feeling, and action.
I believe that spirituality and ritual are for everybody. I’m about the journey, in all of its messy, non-linear, chaotic iterations. I am excited by anticapitalist business and living with my whole entire self present. I use tarot cards to bring forth hidden truth, and ritual to affirm my commitment, over and over, to my ever-shifting path.
OOOh my girl Patti is perfect for the Hermit, but I would love to see Janice Joplin in there and Joni Mitchell, Marianne Faithfull and maybe Stevie Nicks n Kate Bush!!!
This deck looks so cool! But she lost me at Tonya Harding… 🙁 I can’t imagine a chariot champion doing what she did to Nancy Kerrigan.
I love this! I’m definitely going to get it.
Umm, this is incredible. And can we talk about how much I adore Mariska Hargitay aka Queen of Law and Order, as Justice? AHH, just, yes. Damn it, Beth! Now I have to buy this….I was supposed to be on a tarot deck buying hiatus until my birthday……
Yaaaas come through, RuPaul as the High Priestess! Want!!
This whole article is so wrong and offensive and obnoxious and dehumanising on so many levels…
Hey Gabrielle, I’m so sorry it’s obnoxious to you – could you expand on that a bit? I genuinely want to understand.
